Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů did not have time to proofread the piano part [it was rather a piano excerpt] for two months, and only now did he devote himself to it, so he returned the corrected piano excerpt of the SONATA [sic, BM probably did not mean SONATA No.1 for cello and piano, but he was probably mistaken and meant the piano excerpt of CONCERTO FOR CELLO AND ORCHESTRA No.1, H 196 III] to Schott. Miloš Sádlo is supposed to arrange with Schott to borrow the material [for the CONCERTO FOR VIOLONCELLO AND ORCHESTRA No. 1] himself, but BM thinks they won't give it to him because they only have one, and it's booked by Pierre Fournier. At worst, MS is supposed to play the old version. He can have Karel Šebánek at the CHF copy the Sonata No. 3 [for cello] for him, the manuscript is with B&H and BM is on a knife edge with them now, so he doesn't want to ask for copies. BM has a lot of work to do and there is no rest in New York, so he will go back to Europe. Miloš Šafránek writes to him occasionally.
