Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů offers FRESKY PIERA DELLA FRANCESCA, which he wrote last year in Nice. It is a piece for large orchestra, lasting about 22 minutes. Rafael Kubelík will play it at the Salzburg Festival in August. The manuscript is 74 pages long. BM would now need to acquire and correct the orch. part. It is a piece in the spirit of his SYMPHONY No. 6, which made a splash in New York last year and for which BM received the New York Music Critics' Prize for the best orchestral composition of 1955. BM would be happy to have more than one piece published a year.
He will be in Paris in May and then perhaps in Salzburg. In the fall he will be in Rome where he has been given a job as composer in residence by the American Academy in Rome. He is delighted with the success of CONCERTA DA CAMERA.
