ContentBohuslav Martinů has just been sent a piano extract of the CONCERTO FOR CEMBALO AND SMALL ORCHESTRA by Universal Edition, Vienna. Alfred Schlee thinks it is not well done. The notes marked in red will be engraved with the petit. BM is to express his opinion. AS feels that it is not necessary for orchestral passages in which the solo harpsichord does not play to be played by both instruments. BM is also to comment on this. They also send him a copy of the full score. There is also a sheet in the parcel with suggested corrections to the score for BM to check. He asks Martinů to produce one sample page of the piano lift as he would imagine it.
This piano lift was not written by the same person as the piano lift for EPOS ON GILGAMES and the piano lift for the opera [GREEK PASSION], so BM need not worry. BM also receives a shipment of the piano lift of EPOS ON GILGAMES, in which he can still make corrections. UE asks that the piano and full score of the CONCERTO FOR CEMBALA AND SMALL ORCHOR be returned as soon as possible, along with the sample page.
