Content and physical description
ContentGertrude Smith sends thanks for the information that the master sheets for the parts of Bohuslav Martinů’s SYMPHONY NO. 4 have been found. It is good news, even though they are in a poor condition. They [in New York] do not need these parts (they have their own performance materials), so they would prefer that they be maintained in London. In New York, there are the master sheets of the parts for SYMPHONIES NOS. 1, 2 and 3, in London for SYMPHONIES NOS. 4 and 5. The master sheets of the scores of SYMPHONIES NOS. 2 and 3 are in London, those for SYMPHONY NO. 4 are possessed by BM, and SYMPHONY NO. 1 is probably in London. All five symphonies have been printed and published.
