ContentSmetáček congratulates BM on his 65th birthday. Informs BM that yesterday [i.e. 6.12.1955] he conducted BM's 4th Symphony at the Symf. Prague City Orchestra FOK. Last year [1954] the FOK also performed BM's Violin Concerto (soloist Bruno Belcik) and Sinfonietta giocosa (clav. Stanislav Knor). For the next season the FOK is preparing a Concertino for piano trio and strings. Smetáček asks whether BM should not have some new piece for the FOK, perhaps an overture, suite or serenade. They could "popularize" it on tours or on the radio. Smetáček hopes that BM will visit Prague soon, at least at the Prague Spring Festival, in which case he would like to meet him at least for a while. Ančerl is also said to be preparing several new works by BM at the Philharmonie, and perhaps a Piano Concerto [No. 3?] with Jan Panenka for Vienna.
