Content and physical description
ContentCharlotte Martinů says that she received a letter from the New York violist Ernst Wallfisch asking for information about the composition RAPSODY - CONCERT FOR VIOLA - he wrote to her that the Bärenreiter publishing house had referred him to her. ChM says that the piano excerpt and orchestral material is in the hands of a violist named Jascha Weissi [Veissi], who had an exclusive until 1954 and who has performed the piece many times, with his own material. ChM asks that the orchestral material and the piano excerpt be produced promptly. Since her return from Nice on 1 March she has not had the opportunity to meet Harry Halbreich, who is busy with his wedding. ChM asks for confirmation that they are in possession of the CONCERT FOR TWO HOUSELETS AND ORCHESTRA sent to them from Boosey & Hawkes, NY and also the INCANTATIONS sent from Paris. ChM gives a full account of the royalties paid to her for the performance of works by Bohuslav Martinů, and also a list of the manuscripts for the return of which she asks.
