Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů writes to Paul Sacher that he is completely immersed in the New York way of life and has no time for anything. Nevertheless, he is working and will have several premieres, in New York and Salzburg at the August festival [Salzurger Festspiele].
BM is no longer with Boosey & Hawkes and is looking for another publisher.
BM has sent an inquiry to Prague regarding the EPOS ON GILGAMES. Apparently they won't be able to publish the piece, but he could have the material and copies of the score made there. BM does not know how to do it with the text, it may be necessary to make another copy with the German text that PS has. Prague seems best to him, the other publishers are only looking for orchestral works now and publication could take a long time. The PS is to comment on this. BM hasn't approached Universal Edition - he would like them to release [FRESKY PIERA DELLA FRANCESCA] for the Salzburg Festival, and they probably wouldn't release two works for him at once, especially as they both need to have material done soon.
BM received the New York Critics Circle award for SYMPHONIC FANTASIES. He has also won a place at the American Academy in Rome for the whole of next year, and will be going there [with ChM] in October. They will travel to Europe on May 2.
BM gives his New York address.
He has not received much encouraging news from Adolfo Streuli.
