Content and physical description
ContentPaul Sacher acknowledges to Bohuslav Martinů the receipt of his letter of 20.11. He regrets that BM has to postpone his return to Europe until spring and wishes him a speedy recovery.
PS conducted the DVOJKONCERT in Vienna and Baden-Baden in the autumn, with great success in both places. He is always happy to play this piece.
In Basel he recently performed CONCERTO GROSSO with the Basel Chamber Orchestra and the audience was enthusiastic. PS believes it was the European premiere of the piece. They had material from the Vienna Universal Edition and a manuscript of the score. PS will perform the work again in January with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Lausanne and Geneva. He asks the addressee to clarify the tempo of the last movement.
PS will perform TOCCATA E DUE CANZONI with the 'Orchestre National' [Orchestre national de la Radiodiffusion française] at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris on 11 December. The concert is organised by Radio ['Radiodiffusion française']. Perhaps BM will be able to hear it. PS hoped to meet BM on this occasion.
Arthur Honegger and his wife Andrée Vaurabourg have arrived well in Paris, AH is said to be feeling well. PS and Maja Sacher look forward to seeing them in a few days.
PS and MS greet the addressee and Charlotte Martinů.
