Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů announces to Paul Sacher that he will not go to the Prague Spring Festival and can therefore start working on a composition for him [TOCCATA E DUE CANZONI]. The composition of the orchestra is planned as follows: 1 piccolo, 2 oboes, 1 clarinet, 1 bassoon, 1 trumpet, timpani (piatti, Tamb. pic.), piano and strings. Isn't the expansion of the orchestra too big? He has already started writing the first movement, but is still hesitant about the title of the piece, stating "Concert da camera". He is very happy to be working for PS again: it is already a bit of a return to Europe for him. He makes photocopies of the piece and sends them to Sacher by air. He hopes to finish the work before he leaves for Berkshire. The piece will be in three movements and will last approximately 25-28 minutes.
Charlotte Martinů will go to Paris on the Ile de France on 6 June, and will write to Sacher. She will be at the Vieux Moulin.
BM thanks Sacher for sending packages to his family.
KITCHEN REVUE should be septet, if BM remembers correctly.
BM is happy to be conducting PS in Prague.
BM and ChM greet the addressee and Maja Sacher.
