Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů thanks Paul and Maja Sacher for their letter of 22 August. They [and Charlotte Martinů] decided to speed up their preparations for departure so that they could be at the Paris performance of the Double Concerto. They cannot wait to see the Sachers.
Perhaps Charles Munch could officially invite the writer on behalf of the "Société" [Société des Concerts du Conservatoire du Paris] in case of complications with visa and boat tickets. PS is to inform the writer of the exact date.
He and ChM are still in the country, and will return to their old address on 1 Oct (BM gives a New York address). PS is to write to them there already.
BM will have a busy winter - of his works, SYMPHONY No. 3 will be premiered in Boston and New York, SYMPHONY No. 4 in Philadelphia and New York, THUNDERBOLT ["Scherzo"] in Washington, violin SONATA No. 3 and other works.
BM worked well and probably will not compose at all for some time. An offer has come from the Prague Conservatory, and he will gladly accept it. First, however, he will stop in Paris, where he will have the opportunity to attend Sacher's concert [the performance of TWO CONCERTS]. BM and Charlotte are looking forward to seeing Pratteln and meeting PS and MS and all their other friends there.
A biography [of BM by Milos Safranek?] has been published by Alfred A. Knopf. BM will try to send it to the addressee. He has also finally received a letter from his family and plans to write to them.
BM and Charlotte greet the addressee, Maja Sacher, Arthur Honegger and Conrad Beck.
