Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů is looking forward to receiving the score [JULIETTE?]. He greets Ladislav Urban, recalls how together they searched for a librettist for the Theatre Behind the Gate, and asks about his former assistant Leo Straus. He describes in detail everything he knows about the shipment of his money to Paris, what he should have done according to the embassy's advice, why the shipment was delayed. Zdeněk Nejedlý, Václav Kopecký and Emil Fr. Burian. They advised Karel Šebánek on how to proceed in his negotiations with AMP. He is to write to them about the contract with B&H, about Melantrich's decision to immediately release the two BM works held by AMP, which, according to the pre-war contract, BM should have submitted to Melantrich. BM would need some money from Melantrich so that AMP could return the advance they had given him. B&H have offered to help solve this problem. Melnatrich's main argument should be that they wanted to publish BM's works immediately. AMP are only delaying the release, they don't want to invest in printing. BM asks KS for a copy of the letter to send to AMP. He is looking forward to the SPALIK. Thinks it can be published as it is not a "formalist composition". KS is to describe to him the possibilities of microfilms, perhaps he would have them made for other operas [especially PLAYS OF MARY]. Not having them on hand only wastes time and opportunities. Rudolf Firkušný travels the world. BM doesn't know if he will be interested in the works KS sends him, but he should try. He is glad that [a contract has been signed] with B&H.
