Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů regrets that they did not meet in Prague. He would like to thank Mrs. Martinů for inviting him. Lucette Descaves to Prague (she had great success in Paris with his Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 1), and for the performance of the Symphony for Strings by the Swiss composer Conrad Beck. He reports that he has completed a one-movement symphony [RHAPSODIE]. He considers the work to be good, but does not believe that he would get as much money for it at home as abroad. Sergei A. Koussevitzky is also interested in the work. He asks Václav Talich, who is to be on the jury of the competition to which he wants to send the work, for support. In the next few days he will send the score to Stanislav Novák in Prague. He is delighted that VT is presenting THE CURTAIN in Vienna, and would like to hear the work performed by him. He wonders if VT has read his article in Presence ["On Contemporary Music"]. He wonders if it will be performed at the [International Society for Contemporary Music] festival.
