Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů has received the DUO and THREE SKETCHES. He regrets that they cannot publish the works since he would need it. He deems it useless to send them new compositions now, given the fact that they do not have any scope for publishing them at the moment. They should let him know once they do have the scope and are interested. He does not know whether they are interested in publishing the opera, they should let him know. The opera will be staged in March in Brno. At the moment, he cannot do as he wishes with the score; according to the contractual terms, he must send the piano score to the theatre in Brno too. Accordingly, by October they can look at the score at Dr. Löwenbach’s, later at the theatre in Brno. If it is only a question of placement, it will suffice that they send their representative to attend the premiere. He has received the statement of the fees for the STRING QUARTET NO. 2 and the amount of Kč 44. Is this supposed to be the fee for the copies sold? He expected that after the quartet’s publishing they would send him a greater sum as an advance payment instead of such a small amount.
