Content and physical description
ContentHe finally received a letter from Stanislav Novak. He was pleased with the news about Half-time, he is to write immediately if he will be at the Festival, because he wants to discuss the performance with Kusevický. He sent an article to Milot, where he defends himself against the statements that he took over from Petrushka, he describes what he wrote there. He elaborates on Czech critics. He says that he studies scores little and therefore cannot take over - he works according to his own disposition. Needs a piano excerpt of Istar, would like it to be included (but SN is not supposed to talk about it). The ministry has denied his application - he says he has no money. The premiere of Mice [WHO IS THE WORLD'S MOST POWERFUL ] will be in Brno in January, he knows from Zítek. He wants to see it, but it won't come until the Festival. The critic is interested in the details. After Křička, SN is supposed to send him various works (by Polívka [Peroutka] Jací jsme). He would need help from Talich (letter to Paray about Half-time at the Festival). Roussel is ill. He himself is not well either, but he likes Paris more and more. He's staying in a hotel again, and so has little money. He's fed up and sceptical, he doesn't even want to write reports (especially for the "Theatre"). He needs to finally pick up the score from Mrs Melicharova; he's already sent the quartet for Axman to Mrs Nebeska - he asks SN to finish it. He is at least pleased with the beautiful libretto. He urges SN to write back to him quickly (to Vanek's address).
