ContentBohuslav Martinů regrets that the addressee was not at the performance of the CONCERTO FOR VLC AND ORCH. NO. 1, which was wonderfully delivered by Mr. Pierre Fournier – a true success that everyone is still talking about. Charles Munch rehearsed it very well and he is satisfied too. BM was extremely curious himself – it was the very first time he had heard it. He is of the opinion that if the score were published, the work would be performed on many more occasions in the future. Should the addressee ever decide to publish the work, the writer would ask him to make a few changes in the orchestration, yet without the musical essence being touched. He will send the CONCERTO GROSSO to the addressee from Prague around 23 February – this week, he will leave to attend the premiere of JULIETTE on 19 February at the National Theatre.
