Content and physical description
ContentSchott sends a contract for 5,000 francs for PIANO TRIO NO. 1, CONCERTO FOR CELLO AND ORCHESTRA NO. 1, and the SERENADE. Bohuslav Martinů should send back a signed copy. At the same time, they promise BM that they will publish at least two works annually over the period of three years, should the success of the editions of the first works so allow. It is understandable that BM also offers his works to other publishers, yet he should agree upon it with Schott, so that they can concentrate on the most successful publications possible. They are waiting for the piano score of CONCERTO FOR CELLO AND ORCHESTRA NO. 1 and will begin publishing forthwith. SERENADE is a good title instead of “Nachtmusik”. In the summer, BM could write a dance suite from Slavonic dances. BM would make the work on the edition easier if, in addition to the autograph of PIANO TRIO NO. 1 and the piano scores of the CONCERTO FOR CELLO, he could also send to Schott materials for the concerto and parts of the SERENADE.
