Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů sees that Alfred Schlee has added a lot of work to the GREEK PASSIONS. He asks for his opinion on the latest negotiations. He can't capture all of the vast subject matter; his work focuses on the characters of Manolia and the priest Fotis. It was hard to find opportunities in the text for the music itself. He shortened the text as he composed. He is interested in what AS thinks of his conclusion to the last act. Regarding FRESEK PIERA DELLA FRANCESCA, he describes the extra-musical inspiration for each movement. It is not a description of images, rather an indication of feeling. He doesn't need it, AS may not either, but the listener might find it interesting. He asks if AS received the package of sheet music he sent from New York. He will stay in Schönenberg until the autumn, then perhaps he will go to Salzburg.
