Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů writes to Charlotte Martinů that he has just finished the second movement of the Quartet [SMITH QUARTET No. 7 (CONCERTO DA CAMERA)]. ChM is apparently in Paris on account of his suitcases. He asks if ChM has seen [Chester] Puc, Helena [Puc] should be back by now but perhaps they are in the country. Mentions that he has received news from Prague from [Karel] Šebánek and [Miloš] Šafránek and a letter from Albert [rather Alexander] Russel in Paris, who is studying with Nadia [Boulanger] in Fontainebleau and will certainly visit ChM. MS wrote to him about his stay in Polička, it seems that BM is eagerly awaited by everyone. BM is thinking about the political situation in Europe and its impact.
[Ernest] Ansermet will play SYMPHONY [No. 5] in Texas. He expects ChM to write to Count [Jerome Colloredo Mannsfeld] in Zbiroh to reserve an apartment for them. He plans to go with [Frank] Rybka to the mountains in early July to rest. He will finish the quartet in the mountains, a troupe from South America would like to perform it, Rudolf [Firkušný] recommended it to him. RF will probably marry Jana. BM also received a letter from [Helly] Sachs, asking if ChM had met her. He also wonders if she has met Uncle Gogo [Louis Vautier]. [Adela] Stricker greets ChM. BM needs the manuscript of CONCERT FOR CEMBALA AND SMALL ORCHESTRA; copies are of little use for publication.
