ContentBohuslav Martinů has an injured finger and is scratching badly. He wrote to Brno [to the theatre there] for the third time and emphasised his wish to collaborate with František Muzika and Jindřich Honzl [on the opera PLAYS OF MARY], but he has not yet received a reply. From the private messages BM has, there doesn't seem to be much hope for Honzl. Nevertheless, BM has written to Brno emphatically and hopes that the matter with [director Branko] Gavell is not final. If the theatre rears its head, BM is short on time and going against them would benefit no one. FM should not wait to be asked, but approach the theatre as if it were a matter of course. FM could also talk to [Antonin] Balatka who goes to Prague, then they would know immediately what is going on. As far as the Prague [National] Theatre is concerned, BM does not have a definitive answer. They only got the scores now, so BM doesn't know if they will even stage the thing this season. I hope so. It will be easier in Prague because BM will be able to be there in person. It's complicated with the correspondence, they read the letter and then do it their way. BM will come [to Prague] at the beginning of December, so there will be time to arrange everything in the theatre. He will write to Muzik about Brno as soon as he gets the news.
[BM received the unfavourable news from Brno, as he expected. He writes it at the same time to Honzl, FM to make arrangements with him.
