ContentBohuslav Martinů writes to Charlotte Martinů that he still has not received her letters. This is due to the public holidays. Frank [Rybka] has gone to Cape Cod. The weather in New York is unbearably hot and humid, causing BM health problems. The apartment is tidy, Mrs. Raymond has been cleaning all day. Marie Machacek had health problems and is very nervous before leaving for Europe. He wonders if ChM has news of [Jan] Zrzave. BM wrote to Karel [Novak] about the material for SYMPHONY No. 5. He also received a telegram from Lima, Chile [Peru], where SYMPHONY No. 2 was a great success. He is interested in Charles [Munch], Bruno Walter, [Georg] Szell, [Dimitri] Mitropoulos and [Leopold] Stokowski. BM wants to start composing. He also has a lot of correspondence to deal with, such as a letter to [Jan] Löwenbach. [Alén] Diviš did not write, but he told Maria [Martinů] that he was preparing an exhibition for the spring. Jana has news from Rudolf [Firkušný], it seems that he was also ill, but he did not say what was wrong with him and when he would return. Tomorrow he should have news from [Mark] Bichurin. He asks if ChM has seen [Chestmir and Helena] Puc and if she has talked to them about the money that is in Czechoslovakia. He asks whether ChM has enough money. He asks how ChM's family is doing. BM will go to the doctor tomorrow. Soon they will be together at Zbiroh.
