ContentAgreement between Bohuslav Martinů and Universal Edition for the assignment of unlimited copyright or exclusive right to use Martinů's work THE EPIC OF GILGAMESH. The contract mentions the so-called "kleine Aufführungsrechte" relating to the radio, television and film performances of this work held by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers [ASCAP]. Martinů declares that he is also authorised to dispose of the work in relation to its co-authors, i.e. R. Campbell Thompson (English text) and A. H. Eichmann (German translation), and that no rights conveyed by this agreement have previously been granted to any other party. The conclusion of the contract adds that if Universal Edition were interested in new translations, BM would only share in the cost if it agreed to such translations. At the same time, however, UE is entitled to finance any new translations of the work entirely from its own resources.
