Content and physical description
ContentPaul Sacher thanks Bohuslav Martinů for his letters of 4, 12 and 14 December, for the material of the second orchestra and for the two manuscript scores [of the DOUBLE CONCERT] brought to him by Monique Haas. He is glad that he has all the material now, he will have the two missing parts written up immediately. He thanks them for their efforts - he knows BM did everything possible to expedite the work. Unfortunately there is no way of knowing which is the first part corrected by BM, it is not marked anywhere.
He will send the FIELD MASS to Vaclav Talich today, it is very beautiful. He also had messages sent to BM's family. He did not bother to send the composer a parcel [March from VESELOHRY ON THE BRIDGE, see ID 909], he is always happy to help. Thanks for the text to BKO about [TWELVE CONCERTS]. He encloses a cheque to reimburse the composer for the cost of the material. The amount is more than the expenses: so PS wishes to thank the composer for all the trouble involved and to send him a small token for the coming holidays.
He and Maja Sacher wish BM and Charlotte Martinů a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
