Content and physical description
ContentCharlotte Martinů thought that the English translation of her book would be published in Russia. However, Richard Klos writes that it will be published by Artia, which worries ChM because he knows it may take too long. She feels sorry for [Diederik] De Jong, who thought his translation of the book would be published this year. Let RK try with Orbis or Odeon.
ChM heard that [Jaroslav] Mihule had a beautiful radio programme on Bohuslav Martinů all the time. She also received his book on BM. Although she doesn't speak Czech, she read good reviews.
She would like to come to the Prague Spring Festival if her health permits.
She is in contact with [Lev] Ginsburg. He is to send her a book in Russian about BM, written recently by a young Russian musicologist N. Gavrilova. The edition [of the ChM book] is well on its way.
She has written to Le Calve, desperately waiting for his reply.
She no longer wants anything to do with Supraphon after they lost SONATA FOR TWO HUSBANDS. The manuscript was destroyed during the war. In 1973 she tried to resolve the situation about the release of SONATA with JM. RK can try calling Karel Šebánek, he is familiar with the situation. ChM came across the name of the cellist [sic] Aline van Barentzen, who often played SONATA. She asked [Didier] Duclos for her address, perhaps he will provide her with his score.
As far as performing BM music in the US, there is a tan publishing house, Boosey & Hawkes, and a lot of shorter operas are performed at various universities.
