Content and physical description
ContentCharlotte Martinů reacts to the reports given to her by Richard Klos [see CHF 1974-06-29]. She appreciates the Czech Music Fund's participation in the publication and promotion of Bohuslav Martinů's Violin Concerto No. 1. ChM is going to Pratteln, with numerous visits there and a concert by Rudolf Firkušný at the Lucerne. As for her trip to Czechoslovakia, they have yet to discuss it together. She has not yet heard from [Jaroslav] Mihul.
ChM was very pleased to hear of the publication of an English translation of their memoirs in 1975. The translator [Diederik] De Jong will be pleased. ChM made 50 copies of the French version in Zurich.
ChM is grateful for the programme of the Brno International Music Festival. It is clear that the Brno people are actively contributing to the promotion of BM's work.
As for the quartet's manuscript, ChM must ask Mr. Le Calve, who has it in his possession. RK might visit him on his next trip. In addition, ChM is forwarding RK a letter [SieJ 1974-07-14] from a friend of JM [Jürgen Sieber] who will also have some manuscript [SCHERZO, see letter]. It refers there to a friend of Libuše Pešková [Vlasta Kubes]. ChM also writes to him that this new composition must be published by the CHF, not by Bärenreiter.
ChM asks RK to send him several copies of the Panton sheet music. He looks forward to meeting RK in France in the autumn.
