Content and physical description
ContentLeopold Štraus from Prague wants the copyright to the libretto of Bohuslav Martinů's opera THEATRE BEHIND THE GATE. On the basis of a memorandum drawn up together with BM on 13-15 July 1959, the question of copyright and royalties is addressed. What royalties are due to Charlotte Martinů from the performance of the above-mentioned opera in Czechoslovakia? Would she be willing to receive it at least partly in Czech crowns? Breitkopf & Härtel publishers are interested in MIRANDOLINA, and Dilia has told them that the royalty for BM will be 50% of the gross proceeds. Dilia informs ChM that Boosey & Hawkes in New York have two English translations of JULIETTE: one is by Geraldine Thomsen, the other is by Walter Schmolka, the latter was probably approved directly by BM. Who has the rights to these translations? Vojtěch Strnad has left, the director of Dilio is now Josef Kalas.
