Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů hopes that the Boston Symphony Orchestra will record SYMPHONY No. 6, the concert was a big event and BM was very satisfied with the performance. BM leaves for Europe on May 2, and should be in Paris around May 9. ER should let him know about his time options for a joint meeting, BM wants to clarify some issues with him.
BM will write to Erich Leinsdorf and will arrange a joint meeting. BM will be at the American Academy in Rome next year and will try to promote LOCANDIERA there. The promised parts for the third act of the work still did not come to him.
BM came up with some other details to correct during the performance of SYMPHONY No. 6. He sends them to David Adams, who will then pass them on to the London branch of B&H. BM asks if they could bring them to the proofreading in London. After the success of the work at the BM Music Critics Awards, he is in a hurry with the publishing process.
ER is to tell John Andrewes that the final title of the piece is: "Dedicated to Charles Munch for the 75th Anniversary of the Boston Symphony Orchestra." BM still doesn't know if Charles Munch will insist on the fact that it was commissioned by him to by listed. BM adds at the end of the letter that he thinks that ER should have kept their contract and greets in Czech "Nazdar".
Transcription of the letter

March 26. 1956.

Dear Ernest:

Thank you for your letter of the March 14. We had here a big event with the Fantasies and I hope Boston will record item, they really play it beautifully. Now for my return to Europe. We are leaving May 2. And be in Paris about May 9. Would it be possible that you could come to Paris I could wait for you but I wouldn’t stay too long there. Let me know about the possibilities, I will be very glad to see you and clear up some things. I really would like to see you there.

I will write to Leindsdorf, he must be already back in Rochester, I hope somethink [something]  will come out. Next year I am in Rome at the American Academy of Music so I will try to make a propaganda for Locandiera. Still didn’t receive the Piano score last act.

I found some detail- corrections after hearing  Fantasies and send it to Mr. Adams, he will send it to London after correcting the parts here, that you could make already the necessary in the proves of score which I am waiting impatiently for, we will need it, it made a sensation with the Music Critics Award.

Would you tell Mr. Andrewes that the final tittle is: Dedicated to Charles Munch for the 75. Anniversary of Boston Symphony Orchestra.

I do not know yet it Munch would insist that it was commissioned by him but this could be put in the small print under the dedication, I will let you know.

Am very glad for What men live by in Regensburg.

I think you should have continued our contract. Nazdar.

B. Martinů
