Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů does not know what is happening, he hasn’t got any news from Ernest Roth for three months. He would like to know his decision about the manuscripts he has sent him before, he only has news about THE EPIC OF GILGAMESH from Paul Sacher. In Prague they are overwhelming Martinů with questions about THE OPENING OF THE SPRING, they want to make a film and a luxury edition with pictures. But BM can't say anything until B&H in London speaks out on that topic. BM attaches his new address in New York.
Transcription of the letter

Dec 16. 55.

Dear Ernest:

I do not know hwat [what] happened but I certainly have no news from you the time I am in New York. And also certainly I would like to know your decision about all the manuscript [manuscripts] I have sent you. I know only about Gilgamesh and that I know from Sacher. Co se deje?

They bombarde [bombard] me from Prague subject Otvirani studanek [Otvírání studánek], they are all ready to make a film of it and to make a luxurious edition with pictures and all I can say that I have no news from London, which is getting after more then three months a little ridiculous as a pretext. isn’t it?

So I will not try to get to the roots of this mystery and would only let you know if you will write me at all to send it to the new address.

108 East 60 St. New York. N.Y.

Wishing you very happy and Merry Christmas and all the best in New Year.

Sincerely

yours.

[Podpis v.r.:] B. Martinů
