Content and physical description
ContentThis is a typescript letter from Rufina Ampenoff to Ernster Roth, which Roth annotated by hand and sent back to Ampenoff.

RA asks various questions about the publication of musical works (royalty rates, availability of sources, etc.) Betty Bean tells her that Bohuslav Martinů is currently in Paris and that he would answer Roth's questions. What would ER need to know? [Erwin] Stein can't help RA; he has Martinů's complete score of SINFONIETTY GIOCOSA with him. BB says that BM could provide information regarding the PIANO CONCERTO No. 2. Is it possible to find out if there are piano excerpts of these two pieces?

Transcript by Ernst Roth: ER thinks that SINFONIETTA is written for piano and orchestra. His question was the same as in the case of the PIANO CONCERT: is there a version of SINFONIETTA for two pianos and does it even need to exist? Is the piano part so "concertante" that the piece must be called a concerto? He has the same question about the PIANO CONCERT. Is there a version of it for two pianos? If not, who will create it? Will BM do it himself, or will he leave it to them?
