ContentRenate and Birgid von Rohden received a letter from Bohuslav Martinů when they were about to travel to Lübeck for a concert. They played the SONATA FOR FLUTE AND PIANO, and are looking forward to BM writing a second flute sonata. They are glad BM does not live in America but in Switzerland, they might meet in Basel sometime. They read a very beautiful essay on BM by H[anse] H[einz] Stuckenschmidt in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. They learned that BM was composing an opera, THE RIVER PASSIONS.
