Content and physical description
ContentCharlotte Martinů spent the whole of March in the USA, where she had to take care of things, including inheritance matters. She accompanied the pianist Margit Weber, who played in Boston the Concerto No. 5, conducted by Charles Munch. The performance was a great success. She is sure that Vladimir Vanek will soon meet Magrit Weber and her husband in Rome when MW will play the Stravinsky Concerto.
She has received a long letter from [Bedrich] Janáček [see ID 144]. believes that BJ will work with all responsibility on the edition of [VIGILIE] which Bohuslav Martinů has dedicated to him. BJ asks her to send the notes of ORATORIA [HORA TŘÍ SVĚTEL]. ChM asks VV to tell Janáček that ChM does not have time at the moment to search for and send materials from BM's estate. She left Switzerland and bought a house in Vieux-Moulin, where BM was very fond of it. Ideally BJ would come to France to see her and look at her husband's sketches himself.
She had thought about visiting Prague but after trips to the US and Canada she had fallen ill and would not go. She gives her new address, it is just outside Paris. If VV would like to come to Paris, she would be happy to meet him. She met Rafael Kubelík and Rudolf Firkušný in Paris. She met Robert Kratchmer in New York.
ChM is now staying with her sister, writing to 5 Rue Chevalier, Cuise-la-Motte, Oise.
