ContentFranco Crepax from Ricordi publishing house is replying to Vladimír Vaněk’s letter dated 26th January (VanV 1959-01-26). He fears that there was a misunderstanding because their competition should not have taken place in Venice, but the winning work should have been performed at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. However, the competition was not successful, as VV can read from the enclosed press release. FC asks VV to let them know the motto with which the work of Martinů [meaning opera ARIADNE, H 370] was distinguished so that they can carry out research.

Egregio Signore,



abbiamo ricevuto la Sua lettera del 26 corrente e temiamo che ci sia un equivoco perchè il nostro concorso non avrebbe dovuto aver luogo a Venezia, ma l'opera premiata avrebbe dovuto essere rappresentata al Teatro alla Scala di Milano. Il concorso però non ha avuto esito positivo, come Lei potrà leggere dall'accluso comunicato.



Voglia comunque farci sapere il motto con il quale era distinta l'opera del Mo Martinu in modo che possiamo compiere delle ricerche.
