| Content | She (Marie Martinů) was just about to write to Karel Šebánek when she received his letter - she then lost the courage to make a request that probably could not be carried out under the present circumstances. It is a car - can't the expenses for it be paid for from some Bohuslav Martinů fund? They certainly want to go to the festival, but it is very difficult for both of them to go by train now. They would like to go on 25.5. They would like an answer soon if it is possible or not, so they know how to arrange. These are songs they are mostly unfamiliar with, would like to hear them. Today they learned that LEGEND cannot take place in Polička for financial reasons, they are very sorry. BM will also be sad, after all he composed it for Vysočina. It is strange to them that BM has not received letters from KS - they come for a long time, longer than from America, but they will arrive. As for the sculptor, BM has forgotten her address, but [Miloš] Šafránek will probably know. At the same time he writes to the Prague Spring office to remember the family with the author's tickets at concerts where BM's compositions are played. Couldn't KS call there? They must be in a big mess, she asked them for a detailed programme but they didn't send it, so only KS knows when what is playing. It would be great if BM put in a call to KS and came, but they don't have high hopes. It would be needed though, the years are passing. Will LIDICE be ready by then? |
