| Content | At the same time as the letter from Karel Šebánek, a letter from Bohuslav Martinů arrived - he very much requests that Marie Martinů write to KS. He asks him to answer the question whether Orbis, or some other intitution, which has now multiplied in Prague, makes a claim for the PLAYS ABOUT MARIE, or whether it is free for BM - for there is interest in Munich to perform this work. The BM considers it free, but wants to know more so as not to negotiate with the theatre for a performance, and then several institutions suddenly come forward with their claim. The second thing is that the contract with the English publisher has not yet been drawn up, which is delaying the performance of JULIETTA and other things. It is possible that BM KS has already communicated these things, but if not, he begs for a reply, quietly through the Martin family. Thank them, especially Francis Martinů, for KS's concern for him. As for the poets, BM will write everything. They were delighted with the opera's admission to the National Theatre. They will send KS a copy of the HYMN in the next few days. BM gave one copy to the Dean, the author of the text which was translated from Polička to Svratka. He himself will have the HYMNUS transcribed and orchestrated, so that if KS wishes the transcribed voices, they will be with him [Jaroslav Daňek]. They do not have the manuscript yet, and if BM sends it, they will not give it to anyone. As for the royalties, MM wrote to BM, but he must have misunderstood her. He thinks that there will not be so much in the CSR, and that he could order them, but he has to explain it properly. |
