Content and physical description
ContentVítězslava Kaprálová answers her parents' questions, describes the situation in Paris and what she has heard about the political situation in Czechoslovakia. Two Czechoslovak newspapers are also published in Paris. Bohuslav Martinů has already sent JULIETTA by the last courier to Brno. [Rudolf] Firkušný will stay in Paris only until 19 June, when he gives a concert at the École Normale, after which he leaves for America. VK has been to the director of the American College, and it is said to be very difficult to get a scholarship, but if [Sergei] Kusevicky and [Leopold] Stokowski would put in a good word for her, it might be possible. VK therefore wants to write to them and will speak to SK personally. Still, he is hesitant to leave because it would probably mean the end of the relationship with Rudolf Kopec. Rudolf Kundera did a beautiful drawing of her for American magazines. Václav Kapral should send a corrected Elegy. He hasn't had time for the Sonatina yet, and the Concertino [for violin, clarinet and orchestra] is not yet further developed. Songs Sung into the Distance is already Op. 22. VK consoles his parents and looks optimistically to the future.
