Content and physical description
ContentKarel Šebánek sends a report on the performance of COMEDY ON THE BRIDGE at the Zurich Opera. At the request of Bohuslav Martinů, the National Theatre will lend the operating material of THE GAMES OF MARIA only after permission from the Ministry of Information or Foreign Affairs. KS had the score copied by Karel Šolc and [Pavel] Pokorný. The material cannot be photographed, as it would not be legible due to the many cuts from the performance. They will try to get a fee for the copying from Orbis, but if this fails, KS asks the Martins in Polička to reimburse them from the money they have been given. BM wanted to have the score within a month, but this was not possible. Two months ago KS sent BM [in the USA] his English dictionary and a copy of the piano excerpt of HEROES OF MARY, and later also copies of his works published in the Czechoslovakia, always in 5-10 copies, although he has no right to them after receiving the author's copies. BM, however, has not written to this day whether the shipment arrived. BM is unaware of the difficult situation in CSR. On the orders of the Ministry of Information, it is not allowed to list the export of either BM's or [Karel Boleslav] Jirák's works.
