Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů still corresponds with Brno and Polička and forgets about Jan Novák. BM has heard how they celebrated his birthday in Brno and elsewhere and would like to be among them for a while, but for now he is sitting in Nice. The Prague quartet was a great success in Belgium. BM is still putting off work. The sun has not been visible for several days through the clouds and rain. [Karel] Shebanek wrote that JN had some help. BM still does not want to ask only [Zdeněk] Zouhar, so he asks JN for old Russian liturgical chants, probably Byzantine [probably for the preparation of the GREEK PASSION]. But not those by [Zdeněk] Nejedlý. Perhaps the neighbors [i.e., the USSR] published something about a Russian choir using a special voice leading. BM wouldn't understand the words, but perhaps the notes are the same. BM would like to adopt the special voice leading. BM can find sources on Byzantium in New York, but it's harder to find sources on the choir. Just type in the name and publisher. BM won't be disappointed if JN can't find anything. JN has to write about himself, how the hut building is going. BM is having fun now reading [František] Bartos and [Leoš] Janáček's book - it's informative, just a pity about Janáček's terms, which BM doesn't understand. BM greets both [JN and Eliska Nováková].
