Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů thanks Eliška [Nováková] for playing his FANTASIA [probably meaning FANTASIA AND TOCCATA]. Only now have the letter, picture and programme arrived. BM spoke with [David] Oistrakh, he in Czech, DO in Russian, and they agreed. Perhaps they had recovered from the OPENING of the STUDIOS. Jan Novak did the chat nicely, a little bit in the American way. BM is working and getting his bags ready for a longer stay in Europe and perhaps Czechoslovakia. Somewhere someone is writing to him to come, so there is no avoiding it. It all depends on the weather. JN is to write letters legibly and give an account of his musical activities. Greetings to [Zdeněk] Zouhar and EN, who associates with powerful gentlemen like [Karel] Šebánek. It took him a while to listen to BM, who wrote to Šebánek about JN years ago. [Miloš] Šafránek considers JN the best composer of our time, after Martinů, about whom he is writing a biography.
