Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů writes to the President of the Republic [Tomáš Masaryk] asking for financial support. He lists his achievements to date, such as awards from the Czech Academy [of Sciences and Arts] or the performance of the CZECH RHAPSODY, which he personally attended in 1919. BM found himself in existential distress because of his compositional work, as he devoted all his free time to composing. He has just completed a full-length symphonic ballet, ISTAR, which [Otakar] Ostrčil and the ballet master have evaluated positively, and BM therefore hopes for its performance during the winter season.
