Content and physical description
ContentCharlotte Martinů received a phone call from Mario Bois of Boosey & Hawkes about [Bronislaw] Horowitz's translation of JULIET. [Ida] de Vries of Dilie will not receive the work because the rights belong to the Office de radiodiffusion-télévision française. Karel Šebánek called Dilie or IdV. ChM believes that Georges Neveux will send the work to Jarmila Burghauser, who is also engaged in the translation of Juliette. Adolf Streuli sent ChM a copy of the letter he was sending to Bärenreiter publishers. A lady helped ChM with the translation of the letter. She thought that no composition had been published - except the CONCERT FOR PIANO AND ORCHESTRA No. 4 (INKANTATION), which was published by Palacký [Ladislav Dlouhý]. ChM encloses a letter and contract. She also received a letter from Lilian Fuchs, who played many of Bohuslav Martinů's compositions for viola. LF wants to play RHAPSODY-CONCERTO at the Metropolitan Museum of Art next year. But the conductor does not have the score because it has not been published. ChM will ask Ronald Golan if he will lend her the material. She has in fact found a copy of the score, which she will send to him. He sends LF's address. ChM asks the addressee to study with KS the question of the Bärenreiter publishing house and the manuscripts. It is necessary to discuss with them because BM signed everything without understanding the text because he did not speak German. They also sent them the SONATA FOR FLÉTN, HOUSLE AND CLAAVIER after the correction BM made on 4 March 1959. He asks the addressee not to lose this letter. He encloses the contract and a copy of the letter from the publisher Bärenreiter. Notes in English: Mr. Shebanek received: letter to AS from Bärenreiter, addendum dated 17 Feb 1964, which she should presumably sign. A slip in ChM's hand containing the dates of dispatch of various manuscripts and copies of BM's works, which he wishes to return.
