Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů was very pleased with the work sent by Georges Neveux. He immediately got into the melodies and rhythms he knows so well. He was all the more sorry that GN had not yet finished the comedy. He asks for it again. He doesn't need the whole play for his libretto; GN could make the adaptations for the stage performance later. The composer needs less text, it will be a short and light musical comedy. Maybe Neveux will get his ideas back in Aix-en-Provence. BM liked the meeting GN sent him, but it's not current.
Thanks for the letter. Thought [with Charlotte Martin] of GN, will send him a parcel of groceries etc. soon. This will hopefully distract him a bit from material worries and he can concentrate on writing comedy. Maybe there will be chocolates for little Nicole. They would love to see everyone but may not be back until next spring.
The score of JULIETTA is in Prague, hopefully the opera will be performed in Paris one day. BM has worked a lot here in New York and had success, but they've been here [with ChM] a long time. He would like to read [his Le Voyage de] Thésée [the preface to the composer's later opera ARIADNE], but GN should not send it, the mail is unreliable.
He looks forward to meeting them in Paris soon. He gives his New York address.
