Content and physical description
ContentBM's letter arrived late, when the state prize had already been decided; in the end the committee decided between Suk's Epilogue and Vycpalek's cantata The Blessed One; they opted for Suk, even though he had won the Brno Smetana Prize the previous year; the state prize, however, is less about money than about honour, and Suk received this distinction only once 11 years ago, and 'with the way he works, there is hardly an opportunity to receive it again'; he has no doubt that BM will make up for it; he informs that the Chamber Music Society is launching a competition for chamber works until 31 December 2012.3.1935, with prizes of 3000 and 1500 CZK, to be sent to Š.'s address; Prague announces the annual Smetana Prize for 5000 CZK for works performed for the first time in the last two years, deadline in September; here too the composition must be submitted non-anonymously; asks BM what he would like to have performed in the concerts of the chamber music association; he greatly appreciates the Spalice and the String Quartet with Orchestra.
