Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů writes to Charlotte Martinů that he has received her letters from Žamberk. He hopes she has returned to Prague and has not caught a cold. He describes that it is cold in Boston, but the work next door is finished and he feels better. BM is worried about ChM and advises her to take care of herself and enjoy her time in Prague.
He asks if she is at the Sokol House yet and asks her to check if there is anything for her at Masaryk's. Mentions that [Charles] Munch should be on his way to Prague and the [Prague Spring] festival has begun. BM asks her to ask [Karel] Šebánek or Karel [Novák] for money if she needs it and reminds her not to save.
BM wants to work on chamber music [SMITH QUARTET No. 7] because he is not satisfied with the work for piano and orchestra [CONCERT FOR PIANO AND ORCHESTRA No. 3]. He mentions that Rudolf [Firkušný] would like to have the work by July, which BM says is impossible. Asks if ChM has met [Ernest] Ansermet and informs her of the possible premiere of SYMPHONY No. 5 in New York - the piece will be performed by NBC.
BM plans to send a telegram to the [Czech] Philharmonic and considers asking [Charles] Munch or [Vaclav] Talich to take over conducting after the EA radio premiere. He asks her to write to him about Žamberk and her current address.
