ContentThe writer (UE) informs Paul Sacher that Bohuslav Martinů was to receive the sum of 90,970 lire from the publishing house [for the performance of EPOS ON GILGAMES in Turin?], but the attempt to deliver this sum to Schönenberg failed. The writer therefore takes the liberty of sending the sum to Sacher and asking him to forward it to the composer.
Transcription of the letter

"[...] Herr Bohuslav Martinu hat von uns einen Betrag von Lire 90.970.- zu erhalten und unser Versuch, ihm diesen Betrag nach Schönenberg zu überweisen, ging fehl. Wir haben uns daher erlaubt, heute an Ihre Adresse den Gegenwert von Lire 90.970.-, das sind österr. Schilling 3784.- zu überweisen und wir bitten Sie sehr, diesen Betrag nach Erhalt an Herrn Martinu weiterzugeben.



Wir mussten diesen Umweg machen, da Herr Martinu amerikanischer Staatsbürger ist und eine Überweisung an ihn direkt auf Schwierigkeiten stosst. [...]"
