| Content | Alfred Schlee (UE) agrees with Paul Sacher that the piano excerpt [of EPOS ON GILGAMES] should be proofread by the composer before printing. But at this point it would mean a delay if the publisher did so before the material Sacher requests is ready. The light-press copies of the piano lift will soon be ready and Sacher will receive them. In any case, if Sacher deems it necessary, the publisher can send him copies of the individual parts for the singers to work with. The illegibility of the composer's manuscript of the score is also one of the reasons why the publication date has been delayed. In addition, the delay is due to health reasons. Light-print copies of the score can be started as soon as the piano extract is ready. The score will, of course, be made, but the publisher cannot, with the best will, give an exact date when it can be sent. The date will be known within a fortnight. In any case, the publisher hopes that the premiere of the work will not be jeopardized. |

Die Lichtpausen des Klavierauszuges sind nun bald fertig und Sie werden laufend von uns Abzüge bekommen. Wenn Sie es für unbedingt notwendig halten, könnten wir für die Sänger auch jeweils die Partie kopieren lassen, damit sie sich damit befassen können.
Die schwere bezw. schwierige Lesbarkeit der Partitur betrifft uns natürlich ebenso wie Sie und hat dazu beigetragen, dass die Herstellung nicht ganz so schnell gegangen ist, wie wir gehofft hatten. Es sind ausserdem noch einige Erkrankungen dazugekommen.
Mit den Lichtpausen der Partitur können wir est beginnen, wenn der Klavierauszug fertig ist. Selbstverständlich wird eine Partitur hergestellt. Ich kann Ihnen aber beim besten Willen jetzt noch keinen festen Termin sagen, zu dem wir die Partitur schicken können. In etwa 14 Tagen werde ich diese Termine allerdings wissen. Ich hoffe jedenfalls sehr, dass Ihre Aufführung dadurch nicht gefährdet wird. [...]"
