Content and physical description
ContentElizabeth Sprague-Coolidge, in response to Bohuslav Martinů's letter [19 June], is concerned that BM has not received her last letter [also 19 June], and thus essentially repeats her letter: she cannot, due to the financial crisis, commission a composition from BM [CONCERTO GROSSO] and cannot influence the work of the jury in the Coolidge Prize competition, where the evaluated manuscripts are strictly anonymous [SMITH SEXTET]. He also believes that BM's chances of winning are high given the quality of his work, even without her input. The ESC apologizes for responding negatively to BM's requests for help and explains that it is currently forced to act in this way in many ways.
