Content and physical description
ContentBM reports that he was away from Paris for the whole of February and March and comments on the casting of Rond [H.200], which he believes to be a solo. He thanks BM for his congratulations on winning the prize [Elisabeth Sprague-Coolidge Prize, which BM won for his String Sextet] and enquires about the details of the Smetana Jubilee Foundation Prize for 1933, and the possibility of his receiving it. He intends to enter his ballet The Chalice and comments on its content, which, despite being 'popular', BM feels meets the requirements for the Smetana Prize with its serious moments such as the section on The Wedding Shirt and The Legend of St Dorothy. If Josef Suk had entered his composition Epilogue in the competition, it would not have competed. The score of the Spalice is at the National Theatre in Prague, where it is scheduled to be performed later this year. BM asks if this ballet could be performed in Brno.
