Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů received the piano score of the CONCERTO FOR CEMBALO AND SMALL ORCHESTRA, but he sees no reason for a piano arrangement. The soloist plays solo and, given the weak sound of the harpsichord, the orchestra only supports him, so he cannot get lost. The harpsichordist is barely audible over the piano. BM suggests doing just the harpsichord part with the main motifs of the orchestra set out in small notes.
The score also includes Mme de Lecour's tutti and soli stops - a performance with doubled strings which is unnecessary. All corrections are fine. BM sends everything back and asks for a solo part. Stanislav Heller would like to have the piece as soon as possible so he can play it this season.
Do they have news about Max Tau and the opera [GREEK PASSIONS] Bohuslav Martinů has received a piano excerpt of the CONCERTO FOR CEMBALO AND SMALL ORCHESTRA, but sees no reason for a piano arrangement. The soloist plays solo almost all the time, and because of the weak sound of the harpsichord the orchestra only supports him, so he cannot get lost. The harpsichordist is barely audible over the piano. BM suggests doing just the harpsichord part with the main motifs of the orchestra planted with small notes in the tutti places before the soloist enters.
The score also includes Mme de Lacour's tutti and solos - a performance with doubled strings which is unnecessary. All corrections are fine. BM sends everything back and asks for a solo part. Stanislav Heller would like to have the piece as soon as possible, he could have played it this season.
Do they have any news about Max Tau and the opera [GREEK PASSION]?
