Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů informs Charlotte Martinů that he found many of her messages when he arrived home and immediately writes her back. He has taken a pre-vacation, going away from New York for five days to rest. He hopes to finish the second part of his composition [TOCCATA E DUE CANZONI], which is still giving him trouble. He [Paul] Sacher has contacted BM, but still has not received the score or a message from ChM. Rudolf [Firkušný] should arrive next week.BM received positive reviews from the [Prague Spring] festival and Karel [Novák] also praised SYMPHONY [No. 1]. [Charles] Munch was a great success. The Czech Philharmonic would like BM to act as artistic director, BM is considering this offer but first wants to talk to the RF. Still no news from [André] Beausegneur, BM plans to call him to inquire about the status of shipments. BM has plans for a new composition for the Czech Philharmonic [dedication of SYMPHONY No. 5]. BM also has a lot of things to arrange before leaving for Berkshire. BM does not want ChM to make decisions about returning, he is considering coming to Europe in the autumn to sort everything out definitively. BM will still return to New York after his visit with the Rybeks.
