Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů received a postcard and a letter from Charlotte Martinů in Paris. He is glad that ChM arrived safely. The first days after her departure were strange and empty for him, he also plans a short stay in the country at Mount Kisco. He is managing to cook thanks to Mr. Martink's advice. He is working well [TOCCATA E DUE CANZONI] , but will not be able to finish the songs before he leaves for Berkshire. BM doesn't answer the phone, it rings every minute. He's going to dinner at Karl's (Hus?).
BM is calmer now that he knows ChM has arrived safely and is delighted with the successful performance of SYMPHONY [No. 1] under Charles Munch. He has also received praise from Maria [Martinu]. He wonders how Mother [Augustine Quennehen] and the family in Pierrefonds are doing. BM also wants to know if ChM saw [Louis] Wauthier, [Čestmir] Puce and if Rudolf [Firkušný] had a concert in Paris. BM takes the silver to Pepik (Machacek?) and confirms that Humbert (?) has returned the money... [Paul] Sacher is delighted with the composition [Toccata e due canzoni]. BM's family thought ChM was travelling by boat.
František [Martinů] also wrote to him that he was not happy in Prague.
