Content and physical description
ContentJosef Schieszl informs Bohuslav Martinů how things are going with regard to the post of Josef Suk at the Prague Conservatoire: there is talk that Jaroslav Křička or Rudolf Karel should fill the post. The ministry considers it doubtful whether it will be necessary to fill the post at all. However, it is primarily a matter for the Conservatoire's faculty. Apparently neither Křička nor Karel will be considered, but unfortunately neither BM. The most likely candidate will be Vycpálek. The question is probably also tactical - no one dares to object to Vycpálek. Compared to B. Martinů: people acknowledge his qualities, but believe that he doesn't even want to come back. That he wouldn't come back, also for existential reasons, and that he doesn't really want the job. Schieszl therefore urges BM to change his tactics, to really make it clear that he wants the job. BM says he will come to Prague for his premiere at the ND [HER O MARIA] - so Schieszl hopes they will meet there. The day before yesterday [6.10.1935] they knocked up BM's radio opera [THE VOICE OF THE WOODS], they were delighted, also the critics.
